Active support for a rosier future
This year, the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel is once again actively involved in marking the global Pink Ribbon Month initiative dedicated to raising awareness of breast cancer prevention. The event’s highlights included a speech by an affected member of the P.I.N.K. Life association, as well as a musical performance by sisters Ivana Husar Mlinac and Marija Husar Rimac.
Last night’s ceremony was supported by the Croatian Institute of Public Health, led by Andrea Šupe Parun, doctor, geneticist and forensic scientist and presidential candidate Dragan Primorac, parliamentary representative and presidential candidate Marija Selak Raspudić, Dr. Trpimir Goluža, Dr. Krešimir Martić, Dr. Davor Kust, assistant director for nursing at KBC Zagreb, as well as many people from city’s public life: Tihana Harapin Zalepugin, Ivana Delač, Lana Banely, Lana Klingor, Ivana Prizrović, Petra Perkov, Karlo Rusan, Mirna Maras Batinić, Nikolina Minovska, Samra Menzilović, Matea Vanjorek, and many others. All had the good intention to join a noble cause and send a powerful humanitarian message.
Following in the example of many global destinations, the façade of the Esplanade Hotel was illuminated yesterday, thus officially starting a month-long campaign that includes a series of activities aimed at raising awareness of the importance of early screenings.
“For the fourth year in a row, we’ve joined other global organisations by illuminating Esplanade’s façade in pink. This is a symbolic act to support the fight against breast cancer and provide support to those who are fighting this vicious disease. We would like to thank the Esplanade Hotel and its management for recognising the importance of the idea and the project, and for wanting to take part in the Pink story. We want to emphasize that we are focused on disease prevention, but also on helping the healthcare system. Therefore, we promote the national programmes of the Croatian Institute of Public Health”, said Nives Moric, president of the PINK Life association. Specifically, this amounts to slightly more than EUR 265,000 (more than HRK 2,000,000) in donations over the past 5 years of operation.
In addition to the gala cocktail reception held on the Oleander Terrace, numerous guests from public life gathered to support this noble initiative, while the P.I.N.K. Life association presented its upcoming campaigns and emphasized the importance of prevention, especially given the increase in the number of affected younger women.
“We are pleased that the Esplanade Hotel has again joined the initiative this year, dedicating the whole of October to marking Pink Ribbon Month. Our special edition of Pink Afternoon Tea has enticed many ladies over the years into actively participating and raising awareness of early screenings through social media. I believe that our engagement will contribute to this noble goal. We have achieved wonderful cooperation with the P.I.N.K. Life association, and I would also like to thank the numerous sponsors helping us raise awareness”, said Sanda Sokol, PR and Marketing Director of the Esplanade Hotel.
Throughout October, the popular Afternoon Tea at the Esplanade 1925 Bar will be conveniently served in its pink edition, with 10% of the proceeds from every order donated to the P.I.N.K. life association. Executive Chef Ana Grgić Tomić and Pastry Chef Mirjana Špoljar have come up with special pink delicacies that, paired with premium tea, turn this event into a special experience.
The hotel’s partners have also supported this event. Miva Wine Gallery has secured a bubbly welcome with Italian Villa Sandi Prosecco Rosé, as well as Whispering Angel, a premium French rosé, while Nikel, a local beauty brand, will provide pink gifts to the guests. Lite Prom once again provided the audio system and illuminated the Oleander Terrace and the hotel’s façade in pink.
Thanks to this initiative, the importance of early screening and prevention has been additionally emphasised, and the Esplanade Hotel has loudly expressed its support in the fight against breast cancer. This collaboration with the P.I.N.K. Life association continues to be an important part of the Esplanade’s socially responsible business model, dedicated to women’s health and well-being.
