Terry Fox Run Returns to Jarun on September 28

THIS YEAR’S DONATION IS DEDICATED TO THE RUĐER BOŠKOVIĆ INSTITUTE

Zagreb, September 15, 2025 – The steps of hope are often the hardest, but they are the ones that lead to the goal. That same perseverance is the inspiration behind this year’s edition of the world’s most famous humanitarian race – the Terry Fox Run, held globally for the 45th time and in Croatia for the 26th consecutive year.

This year’s Zagreb edition, scheduled for September 28 at Jarun, will once again bring together people of good will to continue Terry’s mission and take one more step toward achieving his dream – a world without cancer.

All funds raised this year will be donated to the Ruđer Bošković Institute for research on new models for early detection and treatment of lobular breast cancer.

Terry’s goal was not only to run the Marathon of Hope, but to raise awareness and mobilize people around the world to help find a cure for cancer. Decades after his first step, that message rings louder than ever. Now is the time to fulfill that mission — together.

Event Information:

The race will take place on Sunday, September 28 at Jarun, on the basketball court by the small lake.

The charity campaign kicks off with the traditional T-shirt sale on Saturday, September 20, at Centar Cvjetni, and at City Center one East and West shopping centers from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Why This Year Matters:

The Terry Fox Foundation has raised more than $850 million worldwide for cancer research. Croatia plays a significant role, with nearly €1 million raised through its local events.

This year’s donation will be directed to the Ruđer Bošković Institute to support research on new models for early detection and treatment of lobular breast cancer – one of the most common yet under-recognized types of breast cancer.

It is a form of cancer that is often diagnosed late because it lacks typical symptoms and is hard to detect using standard methods. This is precisely why investment in scientific research is critical – enabling better understanding of tumor biology, more precise diagnostics, and the development of innovative therapies that can offer more effective treatment and improved quality of life for patients.

Event Organization:

The Croatian edition of the Terry Fox Run is organized by MPG, the Croatian League Against Cancer, and the Embassy of Canada, in cooperation with the City of Zagreb, and in collaboration with Hotel Esplanade Zagreb and the agency envy.
